who appoints a mediator or do i find one on my own for child visitation case?

It depends on the county whether the court has a list of mediators or attroneys/agencies that do mediation. You can suggest a mediator if off the list or if no no list you can suggest one as long as they are qualified under the local and supreme court rules.
