Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
audio record can be proof in il court?
i was physicly and emotionaly abused by my wife. i got emergancy order of protection, which one was extended for next 6 months. i started to record our ''conversations'' using digital voice recorder. it is my best proof what happened beside pictures (bruises, nail scratches etc), 3 police reports, 1 doctor's exam. my question: can i use these audio recordings in divorce court (chicago, il)?

Re: audio record can be proof in il court?
Hello. You cannot use the voice recordings in
court. The taping of your wife, without her
knowledge, is a violation of the Federal Eavesdropping Law. Also, in my opinion, a
Divorce Judge would not allowed the recording
into evidence for other reasons pertaining to
the rules evidence.
