Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
Back child support?
My parents divorced when i was approximately 7 years old, i am now 22. My father never paid childsupport. He had requested child support and visitation but the judge told him he would nto be able to pay where he was going ( he went to jail for raping my sister). My question is---would i or my mother be able to sue him for back-child support?

Re: Back child support?
If there was a judgment support order in place your mother certainly could try and collect some of it. In particular, if she ever used state services, so much as asking for a single food stamp, the CSRU would be most interested in pursuing the matter.
Iowa Code Ch. 614.6 seems to support this.
6. Judgments of courts of record.
Those founded on a judgment of
a court of record, whether of this or of any other of the United States, or of the federal courts of the United States, within twenty
years, except that a time period limitation shall not apply to an action to recover a judgment for child support, spousal support, or a
judgment of distribution of marital assets.
All in all he doesn't sound like he's someone you'd want in your life, does it?
