Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
Birth Mother Contact - Adoption
Our adopted daughter is 16. She
was contacted by her birth mother by e-mail thru our daughters my space. Is there an age when it
is legal for a birth Mother to contact
the daugher she gave up for adoption?

Re: Birth Mother Contact - Adoption
well, you seem to be confusing two seperate questions. As you may already know, a mother cannot revoke her consent to give up her child per 750 ILCS 50/11. But in general, one person is allowed to say hello to another person absent some court order to the contrary. You will have to get the court involved to stop the mother from contacting the daughter if you feel that it is not in the best interest of your daughter.
