Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I'm from Brazil and I lived in the US for a few years. During that period I got married to a brazilian girl in Florida and after 2 years of marriage we separated and I went back to Brazil. She still lives in the US (in Chicago) on a working visa and I end up moving to Australia. We don't have any kids and just a car as assets but we are doing this in common agreement or uncontested. My question is how do I file for divorce from outside of the country? And what forms are needed and what is going to cost?

It is extremely difficult for someone out of the coutry to proceed with a divorce in this state, for purely non-legal reasons. The case must be filed. That requires a filing fee in US$. Credit cards are not accepted. Then the papers that are filed have to be sreved on your wife by a Sheriff or a private process server. Then court dates have to be set up. All these are done much easier if someone is here. Then there is the matter of preparing the appropriate papers. There are many places where you can learn what to prepare and what needs to be filed. Just use a good searcg engine and it will lead you to the right place. you could always hire an attorney. It would go a lot faster.
