Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

car

i left my husband and i took the car for now. It was a purchase that we decided not to put my name on 7 months before we married. I made the payments.( i put the moeny in his account) I recently opened my own account and payed this month out of my account. He has dui's he can't drive at the current time. Is there anything law wise wrong with me makking the payments and keeping it until the divorce goes through.

Re: car

If possible, you should have the car transferred to your name. Ownership of the car could just go to you in a divorce agreement, but you are better off getting it put in your name now since you are making payments. His name being on the care could be a problem for you, for example, if he has some other creditor that tries to take the car for a debt he owes.
