Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I would like to change my married name back to my maiden name for professional reason and wanted to know if this needs to be done legally or if I can just start using my maiden name??

IL common law also a person to use any name they want without the benefit of a court order. SS and other agencies require a court order.
