Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

changing a court order

My ex husband and I are in a custody battle for our son who we had after our divorce. I am a recovering alcoholic sober for 8months now. I have supervised visits with my son but my ex is trying to take him away from me. He has made it very clear that he wants full custody and me only visitation on weekends. What are my chances of winning full custody of my son.

Re: changing a court order

You have a slight disadvantage with the recovery thing so new. It also depends on your alcoholic history. Were you a fall down drunk or a functioning alcoholic? There is no hard and fast rule. The court will decide based on the best interests of the child, who was the primary caretaker of the child. Don't give up and don't drink no matter how it looks. I handle these types of cases. I can help you. Please call me for a free consultation.
