Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I'm being charged with domestic battery on an incident that happened several months ago. I currently have a clean record. Is there a chance I could be sent to serve jail time ? Can these charges be dropped ? The domestic battery was to my rebellious 16 year old that I spanked

There is a chance you could be jailed. Unlikely, but a chance. Spanking, especially a 16 year old is not appropriate.
