Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I have a checking account with my girlfriend , today we just learned they put a lein on it for Child Support . Can they put a lien on a joint account and what can I do to get them to lift the lein. They advise me to send in copies of aLL the checks deposited into the account along with bank statements. I have a Child Support order in effect already but because I work temp assignments it goes from one company to the next. The lady stated that they haven't received a payment in a month.

They have the right to lien any asset you own, and you own that account. If you can prove that all the money that went in was your girlfriend's then they MIGHT release the lien. You have a duty to send in the support money if your employer(s) do not do it. But they do not lien for being behind one or two months. You probably are much farther behind.
