Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Child Custody

The father of my kids filed for Determination of a Father Child Relationship in Mar. 08 in the state of Ill. where I use to reside. My attorney in Ill. requested for it to be dissmissed in it's entirety due to the fact that it is out of the jursidition. I currently reside in S.C. and filed for sole custody in Apr. 08. The father failed to respond and my attorney in S.C. will file for default. Now, my question is because he filed before me does that void out my case in S.C. My attorney states that I have nothing to worry about when in comes to the Ill. case. That it should be dismissed. I just need a second opinion. Thanks!

Re: Child Custody

You have an attorney in IL, who is telling you what will happen based on all the information. Now you are asking for a second opinion from an attorney who knows almost nothing about the case. If your second opinion was different, would you trust it? Or the opinion of the person who is involved in the case? My opinion would be to listen to your attorney.
