Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Child Custody Issue

I have joint legal custody of our 2 kids (age 9 & 8).My ex has them every other weekend.

This has been the case for 3 years. He has since remarried & divorced again (very cruel to my kids).

Ex always threatens the kids that he will take them away from me once they are 11 years old. The kids don't like visiting him as is such and we had a really bad fight over visitation this weekend.

I was told there may be another hearing regarding visitation at age 12?

I lok forward to your reply; thank you for your valued advice.

Re: Child Custody Issue

Hello. I am sorry that your children have had to

endure such abuse from your ex. Clearly you need

to go back to court now and ask the judge to enter an order directing dad not to make

remarks to your children like this. It makes

them anxious and in the long run may affect

their own social skills and school performance.

The Court will probably appoint a child represen-

tative to represent the interest of your children. This is a good court tool since it

allows the judge to keep an eye on the kids

close up through a court appointed rep. I hope

my answer has been helpful. Will be happy to

answer any additional questions you may have.
