Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
Child custody changes
The mother of my husband's children wants to give my husband full custody of the kids and take off the child support order. He currently has joint custody thru the courts. What is the quickest way to legally have full custodial rights given to my husband. How do we go about getting the child support order dropped. The mother is in complete agreement with this, so any guidance is greatly appreciated

Re: Child custody changes
First, I doubt a court would allow this and, second, why would the father want this arrangement? I understand the thoughts about sole custody but he's still going to incur expenses and such on behalf of the child...that's what child support is for. Is the goal for the mother just to be totally out of the child's life? Is adoption by you an option? That's a way that a parent's parental rights can be extinguished...then child support is no longer an issue. Custody in no way impacts child support.
