Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

child custody

I have primary custody of my 7 year old and his dad lives 250 miles away. My decree says I can't move more than 250 miles away without my ex's approval. My fiance lost his job and is currently looking for a new one. What if he finds a job more than 250 miles away? I assume I will need to go to court because I know my ex won't approve. I just know I will not give up primary custody of my son.

Re: child custody

If you are forced to move because of money, the court will understand. It is difficult to speculate based on this limited information, but I doubt your custody will be threatened. Try to get your ex's approval, if that fails, then you can go to Court.
