Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
Child Custody, Child Support, Division of Assets
Personal Situation: 3 children (9, 7, and 5 years old), wife earns 30k/year working part-time, I earn 95k/year and travel 50%.
Child Custody: Expect both to support joint custody, will my travel be a critical factor? Will look for job with less travel, but don't expect anything to surface for 6-12 months given local job market.
Child Support: What can we expect? If Joint custody or not joint custody.
Assets: Wife has 40k in an IRA, I have 120k (half of mine was there before we were married). How will the IRA's be impacted. I received 40k inheritance 1 year ago - will this be jointly divided? Expect other assets (equity in home, cash, etc.) to be divided 50%.
I will at some point consult an attorney but am very interested in initial thoughts. Thanks so much for your help.

Re: Child Custody, Child Support, Division of Assets
You really need to consult an attorney but initial thoughts - child custody is determined on the best interests of the child. Your travel will come into play. What type of custody you get is individual to each case. Yes, your travel will be considered. Uusally, pre-marital property remains so.
