Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
child custody
I am a 19yr old F currently living with my 17 year old brother. I recently moved out of my mom's house and my brother chose to move in with me. We live in a house on industrial property very close to the O'hare airport which our grandparents own. Our father, recently filed for custody ($$child support$$) of the 17yr old. He won the case b/c my mother was not in court. Lately, I've been both verbally and physically abused by my brother, and verbally abused by my father. My brother has little to no supervision, and my dad lives 43 miles away and has no contact with him after 9pm when he turns his phone off. This was a hinderance when my brother FORCED me out of the house I paid to remodel. I proceeded to go to the police station and was rushed to the ER due to the injuries sustained that night. My grandparents live on the property as well but do not understand why he does not live with one of his parents and will not file for guardianship due to my brothers behavioral problems. He is 17 and is considered a freshman in highschool. He refuses to seek anger managment or any type of therapy. I have been left by my father as my brother's keeper. My dad has the child support and Im left taking care of my brother out of my own pocket.

Re: child custody
There are lots of options here. You can have the grandparents evict him from the property. Thats the easiest way. Or get an OFP against him with instructions he cannot live in the same property as you.
