Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
child custody
I have a 10yr old felony record. I did 2yrs court supervision that was completed in 2000. My childs mother continues to leave her alone for days at a time and doesn't permit me to see my child at times. I want to know if i call the law, what are my chances of getting some kind of custody of my child or what will happen to my child? she is 11.

Re: child custody
Fighting to change custody is not easy, cheap, or simple. I always tell people that upfront. Assuming the other parent is contesting the change, this process will require a deal of hearings, 3rd party investigation, and money for legal fees.
Having said that, your old felony record probably will not matter much (unless its really bad). The key is the best interest of the child.

The best thing to do is consult with a local family law attorney about your case.
