Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
child endangerment by ncp
My granddaughters (aged 4 & 5) spent one night with their mother who is ncp. Mother is a stripper at a local strip joint and is married to an over the road trucker. According to the 5 year old, Mommy went to work while she was there and Mommy's ''friend'' stayed with her while Mommy worked. Mommy works very late hours (being a stripper and all). When questioned by the children's father, she first lied and said that hubby had kept them. Then, when confronted with the truth that hubby was on the road and had actually told my son this himself, she admitted she had a babysitter but would not give the name. My son told her he knew that it was a man she had left the girls with in her rural home. She did not deny allegations. I am concerned about what kind of men she has as friends, in her line of work.
Would this constitute child endangerment in Illinois? She has one count of child endangerment against her with DCF for being under the influence of drugs while the children were in her care, (documented by police) but they only issued her a warning.

Re: child endangerment by ncp
Well these things are fact specific. If the babysitter was appropriate, then there is no problem. Stripping is not illegal. If the person was a customer, or some weirdo, then you have an issue. Drugs are REALLY bad for the child environment. IF you have enough facts, you can go to modify custody so that it is supervised only. This effort is not simple, and takes some effort and documentation. But if the situation is serious, then obviously you need to do something.
