child support

i am about to have a baby and i am not

currently working . am i suppose to recieve

any kind of help from the father of my

child?

Hello. The answer is "Yes." In fact, when the child is born, you should file a Parentage suit

to have Dad legally declared Dad. This is very

important because it also preserves and establishes rights of Dad as Dad and of course

this will be in the best interest of the child,

assuming that Dad has no criminal background or

a lifestyle that would not support the upbringing

of a minor child. In Illinois, the guideline

for child support for one child are 20% of Dad's

take home pay (after taxes). If you cannot afford an attorney, I suggests that you contact the County State's Attorney in your County. They

will be able to represent you in what is called a

IV-D proceeding. I will be happy to answer any
