Are there limitations or laws as to what the ex can spend child support money on?

There isn't much that can be done on this issue. We hear complaints about it all the time and we'll bring it before the court but nothing ever gets done. If funds would be being spent on things hurtful to a child you might think about options related to custody/visitation changes. But you're not going to get a court that's going to require a custodial parent to give an accounting or something of how every penny of child support was spent.
