Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Child Support - Medical

I am divorced last August, 2006. My

former husband is unwilling to pay

for my daughter's treatment at a

residential treatment center in Utah.

I have a doctor letter stating the

medical necessity. Question: Can I

go to court myself, without a lawyer,

and have the judge force my former

to pay my daugher's tuition? If so,

how do I start the process?

Re: Child Support - Medical

Hello. I applaud your determination

to see that your child get what she is

entitled to. Yes, you could go to court by yourself and attempt to have this done, but I would not suggests that you do so. I always recommend that people retain a lawyer for court.

You are at a psychological disadvantage when representing yourself because there are so many issues to consider. Will be happy to discuss this with you further and in more detail.
