Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Child Support

If a person living in Illinois, United States, is seeking child support from the other parent living in Canada, which country would govern the amount needed to be paid? If the Illinois court made the judgement, is the Canadian bound by it or can he be allowed to only be governed by his own countries laws in regards to child support since that is where he lives?

Re: Child Support

The law relating to child support is governed by where the child lives. If Canada is not where the child lives but the father, you can have the judgment recorded in the Canadian courts. You can enforce it there.
