Child Support Question
I am currently raiseing my neice and nephew, my sisters children. She has continued to recieve the child support for the the both of them and probably will the rest of the time she will be allowed to. My nephew who is 19 decided not to re-enroll for college courses this semester due to his mother refusing to pay his tuition. She now no longer receives support for him. He has lived with me now for approximately 2 years (since he was 17). My neice who just turned 18 in September has been living with me since Aug of 2006, as the result of a verbal agreement between my sister and I about her helping me with my bills and her daughters cost of living. We agreed on $100.00 per week. To the date I have recieved only $200.00. She continues to collect child support for my neice and collected for 2 years on my nephew while he lived with me. The father will not redirect payment like he said he will so my sister lives happy and I live poor. Is there anything I can do without sending the kids back to live with my sister. PLEASE HELP
P.S. the kid'd dad lives in CO and my sister, myself, and the kids live in IL.

Re: Child Support Question
You should have gone to court to be appointed guardian. Short of filing a lawsuit for breach of contract, there is nothing you can do. I assume you were trying to save money by not hiring a lawyer to transfer the custody of the children properly. Well that descision cost you lots of money. Both parents would have had to pay you child support.
