Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Child Support Question...I recieved a letter from the circuit court for a hearing. It is not "required" I go but a judgement may be entered by default. Do I need a lawyer for this and what should I expect?

(Background.. My gf moved out with my daughter 4 months ago. I do provide financial support but she will not agree to any amount of money outside of court.... even if its mediated and automatically deposited from my paycheck)

If you don't show, they will make up a number you have to pay. If you don't pay it, they will send you to jail. Happens all the time.
