Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Child support

I am trying to get my child support reduced because my employment has changed. I have heard that your ex-souses income can be taken into account for figuring my child support. can this be confirmed and if it's true how does it affect my child support payments?

Re: Child support

Since January 2005, the revised child support guidelines require a court to take into consideration the income (or imputed income) of the custodial parent as well as the noncustodial parent. But how the court adjusts the child support obligation is left up to each individual judge. I can prepare a petition for you to modify your child support obligation, which you can then file in court yourself, for $100. I would need the name of the child (children), court where the petition is to be filed, your ex-spouses name and other details.

Revised reply

I assumed you were talking about a child support obligation determined by a Tennessee court. I see that your message indicates two states: Illinois and Tennessee. My advice only pertained to Tennessee, which is the only state where I am licensed to practice law.
