Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
Child Support Reduction Options - New wife laid off
I currently pay ($875) in child support (20% and day care expenses), which has been tough enough with my enormous debt. Now, my new wife has been laid off, and we are really struggling. What are the chances of getting the child support reduced, which I would needed despite the lay-off?
Please advise. Thank you.

It's up to the court. Child support is based on statutory amounts so you can only be paying what is required under the law and your spouse's income is not a factor.
