Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Child Support responsibility.

I was 15 when the Mother of my oldest child got pregnant, she was 17 at the time. Doesn't that constiute as Statuatory Rape? And if so, am I still legally responsible for the child even though I could not legally consent to sexual relations with an adult? Age of consent in Illinois is 17 and from what I have read she comitted ''Criminal Sexual Abuse'' per Illinois Statutes.

Re: Child Support responsibility.

Hello. A number of years ago I represented a man

with a case similar to your situation. The judge

in the Circuit Court of Cook County was not swayed by the fact that my client (the father)

was younger than the age of consent and ordered my cient to pay child support. In your situation

I believe the court will order you to pay child

support regardless of the fact that mom was of

consenting age and you were not when you had

sexual relations. I will be happy to answer any

additional questions that you might have.
