Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Child Support

I am a single dad. I was paying child support for my 19year old son and 17year old daughter religiously until work slowed down for me. I however still am charged the same amount for child support every week, I can't afford this. What steps do I have to go through to lower this amount at least until my work start up again? Until then it is steady accruing and it getting harder for me to take care of myself and still keep my kids taken care of because although I was paying that large amount I found myself still having to do everything for my children aside from the child support I was paying to the kids mother.

Re: Child Support

You shouldn't have to pay child support for a 19 year old. That stopped at 18 or when he graduated high school, whichever was later. You have to go the court and get child support abated or lowered until your job restarts. if you have any questions, please call.
