Child support termination

My son has turned eighteen and now lives with me.He will not be attending higher education.My question is, how do I have my child support stopped from being deducted from my paycheck at this time? Thank You

Re: Child support termination

You file a motion to terminate child support with the court and set a court date. However, keep in mind the law in Illinois is Until the child finishes high school or turns 19 whichever is earlier, so if the child is still in high school, you might have to wait until he/she graduates to get it terminated. That does not mean you cannot start the process now though.

Go to court and have the support stopped. Because of how unorganized the child support system is in IL, we have to do that for clients regularly.

You do not owe anything at this point. If money is taken from your paycheck, you should make a claim to get it refunded.
