are children allowed to choose parent to live with

i am 15 and i want to know if i can choose which parent i want to live with. my parents have joint custody right now but my dad lives in wisconsin and my mom lives in illinois and i go to school in illinois and i want to know if you have to be 18 to choose where and who you want to live or if you can choose at my age.

Since you are 15 years old the court will consider your request as to which parent you wish to live with. The non custodial parent would need to petition the court and the court will hear testimony on the issues. Please note that your desire will be just part of the testimony the court will hear regarding this matter.
