Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
Children attending a wedding
My fiance and I are getting married and his children's mother said they could attend and be in the wedding and that she would pick them up in the state where we were getting married. She has since changed her mind and says she can't afford to fly there to get them, so we offered to pay her ticket to come get them or have the kids fly back with their paternal grandmother. She has made numerous excuses including they don't know their grandmother well enough, it is our responsibility to get them back home, etc. The problem herein lies with the fact that she gave us a committment and we made plans around that and now that she has changed her mind, we are left with no option but to cancel our honeymoon or resolve to the fact the kids cannot attend the wedding. We have provided numerous options, including flying them back the night of the wedding and she says she will not pick them up at the airport. Is there any injunction or legal way that we can pursue to have the children be able to attend and be returned to their mother with their grandmother?

Re: Children attending a wedding
I would suggest you get back into court for specific permission if you wish for the children to be there and she is withholding that permission. You should also look at the custody decree to determine whether there is any provision therein upon which you can rely. Unfortunately, going back to court is probably the only way you can try to be sure they are there.
