Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
claiming a child for tax purposes
I have been divorced for three years. My ex has historically claimed my son (16) on his taxes. The ex has moved out of state in June of 08 and does not have weekend visitation with either of our children anymore. Pretty much out of the picture. Is he still able to claim one of our children for tax purpose??

If the existing court order says he can, then you need to go to court to have it changed. Regardless of what is actually happening.
