Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

What constitutes child abandonment?

the NCP has not seen or had contact with his children in 5 mos. He was here in Ill. over the weekend, but still did not call. He did move to WI. later last year, though he has a home here that is up for sale due to a child suppt. trust hearing in Dec.(child support another issue). So, without communication, I don't know if he intends to visit or call the kids anymore.....I am not going to assume anything, but want to know if there is a time frame.

Re: What constitutes child abandonment?

Good Question.

Best interest of the children is always the ultimate answer.

I would suggest filing a petition to terminate visitation until such time as he appears and answers.
