Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I contact the vital Statistics. They will only release the death certificate to spouse, sister, brother, mother or a father. You must be a close family member. So by being X-wife vital statistics will not allow me to purchase the death certificate. I need the death certificate to clear some bills. So the question is - How do you get a death certicicate if your are the X-Wife?

I do not understand how proof of his death would clear your bills. That being said, per the State of Illinois a death certificate is not a public record. They are only available to those who have a personal or property right interest with the decedent. If you are not a relative of the deceased person, a letter or document from the office or agency that needs the death certificate must accompany the request. You should also provide an explanation as to why you need the certificate.
