if a couple is separated amd one of them wins money or property-does it become marital property

Probably yes. Most property that comes into ownership during the course of the marriage would be considered marital property and subject to equitable distribution. So, if you are separated, but still married, the property would probably be marital.

If they are legally separated, then it is not marital property. If you are merely separated, then it is marital property.
