Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
Court on same day and time in two different countys
I have a court date for a name change of my daughter in kane county, the mother got severed on 10/7. She and her attorney have just filed a rule to show cause in cook county stating that I am not complying with the final judgment of visitation It so happens that court in both county's are for the same day at the same time. How can I have one continued and which one is best to have continued?

Re: Court on same day and time in two different countys
Pick whichever one you would like to have continued and call that Judge's clerk. The clerk will tell you when to come to get a continuance, or possibly allow you to schedule it over the phone (depends on the judge's preference). It will help if you contact your ex-wife's attorney and explain the situation - he should be cooperative as this sort of thing happens to lawyers all the time.
If I had to pick one, I would have the motion for rule to show cause continued. Feel free to give us a call if you have any questions.
