Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

The court ordered my separated husband to pay house mortage, the husband stop paying and payment was behind by 10,000. He was held in contempt of court (different judge) but no punishment was handed out. Could I sue him for the back mortage? Thanks Laura

Technically, if he was held in contempt, that the amount due may have already been reduced to judgment - meaning you don't have to "sue," because it's already been "sued" on. What you need is enforcement - and there are a lot of tools we attorney's use to get you a lump sum payout. Talk to one in your area for assistance.
