Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Custody of My Children

I have been seperated and living apart from my husband for two years. We have two young children. As of right now we have no custody agreement. About 2 yrs ago I made a suicide attempt and spent two days in a psychiatric ward. I have had no relapses since then and in fact work in a psychiatrics office. My question is how much would this weigh upon deciding custody if I were to petition for such?

Re: Custody of My Children

Hello. The court would consider this, but this

is not all that the court would look at. The

court will consider what is in the best interest

of your children. So do not be intimidated by

what happened. First, you should decide whether

you want a divorce, and then go from there. I

will be happy to answer any additional questions

that you may have.
