Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
Custody of Grandson
My son is moving back to AZ to be with his wife of 3 years. They have had some problems and she left him and their two kids for 4 months last years. They moved back to IL June 1st, she went back to Az for 3 weeks and now decided that she wants to stay out there. One child is hers the youngest is just my sons. We love them both as if they were our own, but now my son wants to move back there. Is there any way I could get custody of my grandson?

Re: Custody of Grandson
Your son and daughter-in-law moving your grandchild out of state is not enough for a court to consider granting you custody. Without an extreme situation (i.e., abandonment of the child, death of the parents, etc.), grandparents will not be granted custody of grandchildren.

Not unless they are unfit parents according to the law. You will be lucky if you can get visitation.
