Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

I have custody of my teen daughter. Because I've been having a lot of problems with her, I now want her to go live with her father who lives in another state. Her father keeps making excuses as to why he can't take her, but I feel as though he is her father and I have been raising her alone for the past 15 years. Is it legal for me to just leave her with him in Illinois and return back to Michigan?

If you and the child are not currently living in Illinois, you should check the laws of your state.

No. If you have sole custody and it sounds as if you do, she is your problem. Deal with it. He has no obligation to take her off your hands because it is no longer convenient for you. You could be charged with abandonment, neglect or abuse depending on the circumstances.
