Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
my dads ex fiance and him bought a truck off her parents, my dad was paying the majority of the bills in her house while we still lived there, when we moved out she let us take the truck, we left our christmas/halloween/valentines etc. in the garage, we now need our things back and she wont give them to us because she says her parents still want another hundred dollars for the truck, we had police officers there and then she claimed that none of our things were in the garage. she is lying, there are my toys my little brother's pictures, decorations, bikes all kinds of things. and the 2 cops told us too bad we cant get our stuff. so i was wondering if i go get it? because the garage is always unlocked and there is a renter upstairs and people go in and out all the time is it legal or illegal if i get it anyway, because some of those things are mine. not even my dads.

Tell your Dad to pay the $100.00 before you get locked up for burglary. And, I don't know how old your are but I suggest you do what the cops told you instead of trying to find some loophole to get around everyone. Also you should stay out of grown folks business - who paid what between your Dad and his girlfriend is there business not yours and this website is for real grownup with grownup problems.
