Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
Dad's girlfriend is verbally abusive?
My exhusband has moved in with his girlfriend of about a year. He takes the kids every other weekend for his visitation time but lately the girls have been calling me on Saturday or Sunday because their dad and his girlfriend are fighting. This seems to happen every time the kids are with their dad, and the girlfriend has told me that she doesn't know why ''he keeps bringing these kids back to her''. He lives in her house and she has no children. My girls are very good, and they love their dad very much but this woman makes it unbearable for the girls to spend time with their dad. This past weekend when the girls called me I could hear dad's girlfriend yelling in the background about the children and how they seem to hinder her. I want their dad to still be able to see the girls, but I don't want the girls back at this woman's house because I know how she views my girls now. The bad thing about this is when everything calms down between the two of them then I am the bad person. Can I get a restraining order against the girlfriend but still allow their dad to see them?

Re: Dad's girlfriend is verbally abusive?
Hello. A restraining order would not be the answer. Dad's visitation with the girls should be modified so that they will not be exposed to
this social turmoil. You need a lawyer to go into court to seek to have visitation modified so that dad is forced to see the children at a relative's home, etc. Will be happy to answer any additional questions that you might have.
