My Daughter

My ex and i have been divorced for approx. 14 yaers. he has had sole custody every since. we have 5 children ,4 are grown and on their own.

My 16 year old is at this time visiting me in Florida she has told me that she wants to live with me and not her

Dad. She has been in trouble and i feel she needs to get away from the bad inffluences. what can we do. now that she is with me what if she decides to jusst not go back to her

Dad. What can he do to her or me?

Hello. It is in the best interest of your daughter and you that you file a change of custody petition in Illinois. Otherwise, dad could go into court and ask that you be held in contempt. Because of your daughter's age the

process may be somewhat shorter, but this is the

best way to go. Angering a judge certainly would

not be a good move. I am presuming that the divorce occurred in Illinois, therefore Illinois

will continue to have jurisdiction, until your

daughter is of age. I will be happy to answer
