my daughter has left her children with me for 6wks with very little contact can i petition the court for custody or guardianship

Hello. In my opinion, it is too soon to suggests abandonment, unless your grandchildren are at risk. For instance, if your ability to care for them or their access to medical care is a problem, then you should seek a guardianship now. With a guardianship in place you may be able to qualify for state assistance for them. However, this is a very involved process and I strongly urge you to seek the advice of an attorney in your area. In fact, in my opinion, you need a lawyer to represent you now. I hope my comments have been helpful to you.
