Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois
My daughter is 15 Years old we live in illinois the will county court system. I was wondering what is the legal age she can change her last name without consent of her father. he suspended his visitation rights and has not seen or contacted her in 5 years. and she would like to have my maiden last name and her grandmothers which has died over the recent summer. How soon could she change her last name again without consent of the father?

She can seek out court protection if she is neglected or abandoned, but 16 is when she can apply for emancipation and make her own legal decisions.
