Debts of a spouse
If my husband has an outstanding child support debt am I responsible, and can the tax return we jointly get be taken?

You can be responsible. You need to be careful with your assets if he owes back support. A relatively recent case held that a woman in your situation was liable for her husband's arrears.

No you are not liable. Yes it can be taken. You need to file with the IRS and State for spousal relief of the refund and your share.
