How can I declare my elderly parents incompetent? They are unable to care for themselves and cannot take meds appropriately. I have hired someone to care for my parents. My parents mess and wet in the floor and just walk thru it. They will not allow anyone to clean their home. I want them in a nursing home so they can get the care they need. What can I do legally? I am POA over both of them.

Hi. You could file guardianship proceedings for each of them and have yourself appointed as guardian over each of your parents. Howver, you may also want to take a close look at your POA's. You may have enough power under the POA's to accomplish the same thing without going through the expense of guardianship proceedings, which is the point of POA's in the first place.
