Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

dependant tax credit

I have court order allowing me to claim both children on my taxes. My ex-wife claimed one on her taxes. What can I do through the courts to solve this? This is the second year she has done this.

Re: dependant tax credit

Hello. Since your ex-wife violated the terms of the court order you can

file a petition for rule to show cause against her as to why she should not be held in contempt of court. This is your best remedy. There is a possibility that the court will order her to reimburse you for the tax you had to pay due to her actions. Will be happy to discuss this further and in more detail.
