Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Dependent Child/Family Law/Insurance question

This is a strange one, sorry. My wife and I took a former student of hers under our wing 10 yrs ago. She now lives with us full time and attends college. She has Medicaid coverage but I would like her to be covered by my employer's medical/dental/vision insurance. What is required to make her an eligible dependent- affidavit/petition to state? Thank you.

Although you say that you and wife took this former student "under your wing," were you ever named as a guardian by a court? Any adoptions? You would need have legal guardianship and/or adoption to be able to put her on your insurance in most cases.
