Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Deposition

I have been subpoened to give a deposition regarding a divorce between my administrative assistant and her husband. There is no information on the subpoena other than to appear. I assume that it is to discredit my assistant in some manner to affect custody or a settlement. How or what should I prepare?

Re: Deposition

Hello -

Generally in divorce matters, lawyers

for both sides have a right to conduct

liberal discovery. In other words, under Illinois law, just about anything can be asked that is not overly offensive or intrusive. In this situation, the attorney for the husband probably will ask questions about income and/or benefits. There is no need to prepare if you were not asked to bring any documentation, etc. I hope my response is helpful.
